DeepSeek Harness

DeepSeek Harness (dsh) is an open-source agent harness developed by DeepSeek AI.

It uses an architecture where everything is a plugin, and is powered by Cordis, whose design is described in A Programming Paradigm for Spatiotemporal Composability.

Developer preview

DeepSeek Harness is currently in developer preview and is iterating rapidly. THERE WILL BE COMPATIBILITY-BREAKING CHANGES.

Run

Run from npm

Install Node.js, then run:

npx @deepseek-ai/dsh web

The command starts the Web UI, served at http://127.0.0.1:3080 by default. See Web UI guide.

Run from source

To run from a repository checkout:

Desktop pet (蜗蜗)

This fork ships @deepseek-ai/dsh-client-ui-pet, a Sumikko Gurashi-style desktop pet for the Web UI: it crawls around the page with an 8-direction sprite sheet and a fading slime trail, eats image files dropped onto it (they land in the current session's composer), falls asleep when idle, and reacts to conversation activity (messages sent, turns finished, long turns).

Install into a checkout

# 1. copy the plugin package into the workspace

Bundle edits hot-reload through the client-plugin HMR chain; only the roster/dependency edits above need a restart.

Regenerating the sprites

• scripts/make-pet-asset.py <input.png> — rebuild the default single sprite (src/client/assets/pet.ts).
• scripts/generate-360.py --refs <reference.png...> --emit-ts — generate the 8-direction cartoon sheet with OpenAI gpt-image-1 (requires OPENAI_API_KEY) and rewrite src/client/assets/sprites360.ts.
• scripts/ocr-labels.swift <sheet.png> — OCR the view labels of a generated turnaround sheet (macOS-only; requires swiftc).
